Undo and redo

Made a mistake? The Undo and Redo buttons in the top bar step back and forward through your recent changes.

Undo and Redo in the top bar

Where it works

Undo and redo are available in the editing screens:

  • The Timeline, and inside a chapter: creating, renaming, deleting, moving and reordering chapters, scenes and folders.
  • The scene editor: adding, editing, deleting, reordering, cutting, copying, duplicating and pasting actions.
  • The asset tabs (Characters, Scenery, BGM, SFX, Cutscenes, Variables): deleting items. Deleted assets come back with their file.
  • The GUI tab, the Start screen and the Credits: each change you make there.

A deleted item comes back with everything inside it: undo a folder deletion and the folder returns with all its contents.

The rules

  • The last 50 changes are remembered on each screen.
  • History is per screen and per visit. When you leave a screen and come back, its history starts fresh, so you can't undo something you did before you left.
  • A new change clears the redo list. After undoing, if you make a different change, the undone steps can't be redone.
  • The buttons are greyed out when there is nothing to undo or redo.

What it can't do

  • It can't undo a novel delete. There is no recycle bin, so make a backup first.
  • It can't undo changes made in the reader, such as saves.
