General

Is Kohana free? Yes. Reading, making, previewing and uploading novels is free. Premium adds private links, app exports and removes ads.

Which devices does it run on? iPhone, iPad and Android, plus the Web Player on computers. You make novels in the app.

Do I need an account? Only for things that use Kohana's servers: uploading, commenting, following, private links and exports. See Account.

Which languages does the app use? English, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese and Vietnamese.

Reading

Can I read offline? Yes, once a novel is downloaded to your Library. See Library.

Where are my saves? On your device. Saves are not shared between devices or with the Web Player. See Saves.

Making

Do I need to know how to code? No. Everything is done with the app's forms. See the editor guide.

Where is my novel stored? On your device only, unless you upload, share or export it. Make a backup to be safe.

Can I use AI-generated art or writing? Yes, if you say so when you upload, and follow every other rule. See Contains AI.

Can I use music or pictures from the internet? Only if you have permission or the licence allows it, and credit the source in your credits. See the Community guidelines.

Can I make a novel with more than one language? Yes. See Translations.

Can I publish my novel outside Kohana? Yes, with Export you can make an Android app, a Windows program or a web version. Exports need Premium.

Who owns my novel? You do, and the authors of anything you built on. See Help and about.

Publishing

How long does review take? It is done by people, so it varies. Turn on notifications to be told. See Upload status.

Why was my novel denied? Usually a guideline problem, such as rights to the content. See Upload status and the Community guidelines.

Can I update a published novel? There is no update button yet. Contact the team. See Contact.

Premium

How do I cancel? In Settings > Manage subscription, or in your store's subscription settings. See Subscribe and manage.

What happens to my private links if I cancel? Timed links keep working until they expire, and you can revoke them under My Shares. Unlimited links stop while you are not subscribed. See Plans and limits.

Account

I didn't get the verification email. Check spam, and see Sign up.

How do I delete my data? Delete your account from the app.
